A quick up date……..

Just a quickie because today is bath day. A sacred, not to be missed opportunity to immerse my body in water (all be it not very hot) I can only take one every 4 days when I change my bag and only first thing in the morning before I eat or drink anything. The hand and foot tenderness seems to have calmed down now that my oncologist has reduced my chemo a bit so that’s great. I was getting a little worried because work is so busy with the holidays fast approaching. The house is now¬†decorated (in its usual¬†Charlie brown fashion) tree lit and even a few presents tucked under.Trying not to stress out too much with the new year about to turn and my big fat deductible looming on the horizon. Honestly, I don’t know how some people would cope with all the medical bill craziness, it’s just so overwhelming. I reckon I’ll still be paying this lot off for many years to come.

On the up side, I had a bone density test which showed my bones to be normal….Hooray! I had read that people who have pelvic radiation are 50% more likely to break a hip in older age, so I guess I’ll cross out learning to ski jump or parachute off the bucket list, just in case.

Jingling my bells…….

WOW! it’s December 5th already and I need to get cracking with the whole Christmas decorating, card sending, present buying business and pronto. I don’t know about you but I sort of like the mad rush to get everything done last-minute. For years I envied a friend of mine who seemed to have all her presents bought and wrapped by July, well not anymore…bring on the mad dash I say, it’s just more exciting that way. We (meaning Peter) cut down a very nice small Blue Nord tree yesterday afternoon, so I’ll be decorating that today and singing carols at the top of my voice (best for all if I’m alone on this one) and really getting in the mood.

I do have a bit of a worry with this hand foot thingy because now my hands are becoming super sensitive and tender, even warm water is painful and don’t even ask me to open a bottle cap because I can’t. I’ll be seeing my Doc on Thursday so we’ll see what he has to say. So, heads up my clients, your shampoo’s might be a bit cooler than usual or perhaps I can wear rubber gloves….with jingle bells on!….just kidding.

Tina Tenderfoot…..

As I have been coping so well with the chemo so far I admit to being fairly shocked when sitting in the tub the other day doing the obligatory sole sloughing routine with the pumice stone only to realise that big chunks of skin were pealing off my feet….yikes! Well, it’s not so bad really just a bit alarming. I had been

coming to the end of my chemo cycle and starting to feel the old tenderfoot routine starting up again so I suppose this just happens, more disturbing actually was the thumping headache I had the last two days of this cycle. Oh well, what was I thinking….that I could take all this poison and have no side effects….well, kind of, yes.

On a more pleasant subject, the living room is looking very smart with it’s new coat of paint and it’s floors are gleaming again ( this is a bit of a rare occurrence when you have three dogs, two cats and a parrot) I can hardly wait to start decorating for Christmas next weekend.
